Online Meeting Accessibility Resources

Tips

-Introduce yourself when you speak

-Speak clearly and slowly so everyone can hear you and keep up

-Have everyone but the person speaking mute their audio, and encourage use of the hand raise tool under the participants menu to promote orderly conversation without competing noise

-Present your meeting content in multiple ways, such as by PowerPoint, verbal communication, or electronic handout

-Share electronic versions of the event’s materials ahead of time. ARC can help convert your document to an accessible format (such as a Word document)

-Allow time for breaks, especially at lengthy events

-When utilizing the chat function, remember to read aloud any questions or significant information that is sent

-Verbally describe what is on the screen for your participants and provide written image descriptions whenever possible

-If the privacy of your meetings is not a huge concern, record and archive your meetings for future reference

-Look into what accessibility features your preferred platform has and familiarize yourself with them

-If you are not able to obtain a live transcript, send out manually taken meeting minutes following your session
